The Chinese community in Panama presented the official calendar of activities that will take place on the occasion of the celebration of the Chinese New Year, which on this occasion corresponds to the year of the Water Rabbit, which begins on January 14 with cultural, commercial and tourist activities , culminating on March 19.
The Chinese New Year, today declared a “country event” by the National Government, is an opportunity to make visible the contribution of the Chinese community in Panama and the relations between both countries.
The Spring Festival is a unified calendar of all the activities that the Chinese community in Panama performs every year, from the celebration of the new year, to the dragon boat races, kite and tambourine festival and much more; It is an opportunity for coexistence, healthy entertainment for the Panamanian family and a contribution to the economic reactivation of the country.
The so-called Spring Festival in Panama, will have a series of activities starting on January 14, among which the ExpoAuto y Vivienda in Altaplaza Mall, on January 14 and 15, from 11:00 am to 8:00 p.m.
In Panama City, the big event will be on January 20, 21 and 22 at V Centenario Park, at the entrance to Casco Viejo in Panama City, between 3:00 pm and 9:00 pm with a great Foodie Fest, artisan exhibition, tourist guides from Chinatown and artists such as Raíces y Cultura, Osvaldo Ayala and the great Panamanian Chinese singer, Brenda Lau.
A celebration in various parts of the city
On January 21 and 22, the Chinese New Year Fair will be held, with the modality that it will be held in unison in the main shopping centers of the city: Super Centro El Dorado, Multiplaza, Altaplaza Mall and Metromall. Among the attractions that will be offered at these fairs are various shows of Chinese culture, sales of handicrafts, calligraphy, among others.
On January 27, starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Hotel El Panama, an elegant Chinese New Year dinner is held to delight attendees with a banquet, highlighting the most delicious dishes of the ancient Chinese gastronomy, as well as a culture show.
The Water Rabbit also visits the interior of the country
Being considered a country event, the Year of the Water Rabbit, this year will extend its celebration to various provinces of the Republic of Panama.

From January 31 to February 2, a Chinese film series will be presented from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Gladys Vidal Theater of the Panama City Hall.
On February 5, the Chinese New Year walk race is scheduled to start at 5:30 am at the Mirador del Pacífico on the Cinta Costera. That same day, the traditional Kite and Tambourine Festival will take place from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on Boulevard Panama Pacifico.
From March 16 to 19, the International Dragon Boat Competition will be held from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm on the Amador Causeway.
