The citizens of the capital frequently complain about the quality of the buses. In August 2021, a child under the age of four died due to damage to route 112, which circulates in Managua. Neither the Government nor the Transport Regulatory Institute of the Municipality of Managua (Irtramma) have explained which units will be replaced or which routes they belong to. Nor is it known how they will be acquired by transport cooperatives in the capital, nor the sale price.

The Daniel Ortega regime usually takes advantage of the arrival of these units to make political propaganda in favor of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN). On each bus they hang party flags and they take pictures of the drivers simulating with their fingers the number two, the polling place that represents the dictator of the country.

Upon arrival in Nicaragua, these units undergo a modification process that adapts to the conditions of the nation, since in their original design they are sealed to contain cold temperatures. Likewise, windows and the order of the plastic seats are changed. According to information on the website of the Kurgan automobile company, the useful life of Russian buses is eight years. However, in the country they are allowed to circulate for longer than the stipulated time.

Rosario Murillo also reported that between March or April of this year Nicaragua will be receiving a second fleet of 200 new buses from the Russian Federation.
