Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero assured today that “from the Argentine pro tempore presidency of Celac we have recovered and consolidated the bi-regional political dialogue with the European Union.”
In this sense, through the social network Twitter, Cafiero announced: “Soon we will meet with Josep Borrell to advance the call for a new summit in Brussels that will deepen integration.”

Cafiero also reproduces a post by Borrell himself, High Representative of the European Union for External Affairs, in which the diplomat affirms that “today’s great challenges require reliable partners.”
“Our relationship with Latin America and the Caribbean is solid, but we cannot live in the past. Today’s great challenges require reliable partners. It is a region in which crucial interests for the EU are at stake in the coming decades”, Borrell indicates in his post on Twitter, reproduced by the Argentine foreign minister.
President Alberto Fernández is the current acting head of Celac, the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, a position he has held since January 2022.
On January 24, the VII Summit of Heads of State of Celac will take place in the city of Buenos Aires.
