Cacerolazo in Manzanillo due to the continuous blackouts

Madrid Spain.- Given the daily blackouts of more than eight hours, the demonstrations of Cubans are taking place in different parts of the island.

This Wednesday the inhabitants of the town of Manzanillo, in the province of Granma, took to the streets with pots and pans and to the rhythm of conga they joined in a walk demanding the restoration of the electrical service.

In a video shared on Twitter by the journalist Mario J. Pentón, in the middle of the darkness the Cubans are heard shouting “Put on the current pinga”, as had happened the day before in the University of Camaguey.

In his publication, Pentón points out that after half an hour of demonstration they restored the power to the people from Manzanillo.

At the time of the protest, said town had been without power for more than twelve hours, indicates the Cuban woman who recorded the video.

“Wow, Mario Pentón, there you are. Here in the city of Manzanillo they are throwing themselves into the street. More than twelve hours without power”, the lady is heard saying.

The images were also shared by the journalist José Raúl Gallego, who since Facebook expressed: “Well, today the conga-protest played in Manzanillo. (…) This is what there is and this is what it touches. So it is in the whole world. If you are mistreated, you protest. They cannot with a people in the streets asking for the same thing that even the police and military themselves want. The only ones who don’t lose power are the leaders and their relatives and they don’t have the courage to go out and confront anyone.”

This Tuesday a similar demonstration transpired at the “Ignacio Agramonte” University of Camagüey.

After more than ten hours without power and water, the students left the shelters and demanding an end to this situation shouted “Water, Current!”, “Put on the current pinga”, accompanied by saucepans.
