The Colombian government confirmed the appointment of businessman Eduardo Ávila Navarrete as the new ambassador to Spain, appointment that has already received the approval of the Spanish Government.

Ávila was born in Tunja, capital of the department of Boyacá, is Business administrator focused on the area of technology and according to local media, he is one of the people closest to the Colombian president, Gustavo Petro.
According to the appointment decree, which is dated October 3, the new ambassador has residence in Spain and will replace Luis Guillermo Platawho was the last ambassador in Madrid appointed by the Government of Iván Duque.
