After two years suspended due to the covid-19 pandemic, the processions in honor of the patron saint of Brazil Nossa Senhora de Aparecida are taking place again in person, with the expectation of bringing together millions of faithful across the country.
The main destination for the Catholic faithful during the period of the patron saint’s festivities, the city of Aparecida, in the interior of São Paulo, hosted the 8th Cycling Tour, an event that brings together residents of Aparecida and region and that was suspended in the last editions of the Patron’s Festival.
Starting at 8:30 pm today (11), the municipality will host the traditional Memory Procession, which has also not taken place in the last two years.
Participants will travel a little more than 2 kilometers from the Basilica Santuário Nacional, carrying candles and an image of Our Lady, to Porto Itaguaçu, where, according to tradition, three fishermen found an image of Our Lady broken and submerged in the waters. of the Paraíba River, beginning the current devotion to the national patron saint.
In addition to the Memory Procession, dedicated to rescuing the memory of the causes of faith in Nossa Senhora, the city of Vale do Paraíba will also hold the so-called Solemn Procession, at 6 pm tomorrow (12), a national holiday in honor of the saint. The celebration culminates with a closing mass of the festivities, in the Basilica, followed by a show pyrotechnic
This Wednesday’s program also includes the celebration of seven masses at the central altar of the Basilica: at 5 am; 7 am; 9:00 am (time for the Solemn Mass, the main one of the day, presided over by the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Aparecida Dom Orlando Brandes); at 12 noon; 14:00, 16:30 and 19:15, after the Solemn Procession ends.
In addition, the Solemn Consecration to Our Lady of Aparecida will be prayed in the Historic Basilica at 6 pm. The celebrations of the Feast of the Patroness 2022 will be broadcast on the platform Appeared live and through the social networks of the National Sanctuary on Facebook and also on Youtube.

The faithful will also meet again in the federal capital, where the date will be celebrated on the Esplanade of Ministries. The program organized by the Archdiocese of Brasília includes a mass celebrated especially for the children, starting at 9 am tomorrow.
In addition to having fun on the inflatable toys that will be set up on the lawn, children will receive ice cream and will be able to participate in the prize draw.
The most awaited moment, the Holy Mass will take place at 5 pm and will be celebrated by Cardinal Dom Paulo Cezar. Soon after, the traditional procession takes place along the Esplanade of Ministries, during which three blessings will be granted: by the sick, by the rulers and by the families.
