The governor Nicolas Maduro dedicated his address this Thursday, June 1, to reviewing the balance of the Military Community Brigades for Education and Health (Bricomiles) throughout the country.
In this sense, the president ordered the creation of a maintenance manual for the rehabilitated spaces: “It is vital that what we are recovering be subject to permanent maintenance by the community.”
As part of the tasks entrusted to the Bricomiles, Nicolás Maduro indicated that the first stage of recovery of the original structure of the University Hospital of Caracas (HUC) is underway. For now, the government announced the rehabilitation of the façade and the pediatric, pediatric surgery and post-surgery intensive care and psychiatric services.
“The recovery process of the Hospital Universitario de Caracas must be completed 100%,” the president instructed.
According to Maduro, the recovery of the HUC represents “a historic surprise” for the country. The ruler said: “You can count on the Bolivarian Government to advance, even more than what we have done in the recovery of the architectural heritage of the Central University of Venezuela.”
He pointed out: «I don’t think anyone gets angry because someone has recovered the UCV, there will be people so crazy that they get upset because we went in to recover what others had lost. What, if I tell you, if someone gets upset, they have a double job: to get upset and discouraged, because we are not going to stop, we are going to continue recovering the Central University of Venezuela, the University Clinical Hospital and all the spaces”.
Among the jobs assigned to the Bricomiles, this Thursday, the rehabilitation of the Dr. Francisco Canónico Comprehensive Diagnostic Center (CDI) in Ciudad Bolívar was reported.
Maduro promises to attend high schools
According to Maduro, his government is going to recover all the high schools in the country. This promise was accompanied by an indication: The student body has to be at the forefront of that recovery.
This Thursday, in addition to the first lady, Cilia Flores, the president was accompanied by the Vice President of Science, Technology, Education and Health, Gabriela Jiménez; the Minister of Education, Yelitze Santaella and the Minister of Defense, General in Chief Vladimir Padrino López, among others.
During the presidential broadcast, from the Simón Bolívar Educational Complex in the Altagracia parish, Maduro said that this center was recovered. It has 1,060 students and it was indicated that the maintenance carried out is part of the activities of the 1×10 of Good Government. In this case, the government assured that the façade, the areas of the sports courts, tables and desks were restored, and the walls were painted.
On the situation of school infrastructure in the states, the governor of Anzoátegui, Luis Marcano, assured that more than 70% of the infrastructure: 800 preschools, schools, high schools and universities are “in optimal conditions for students.”
Climate change
This Thursday, he again referred to the recent summit of South American Presidents held in Brazil this week. In this sense, the president said that the issue of climate change was discussed.
“It is a topic of great importance, of great interest. And at the Meeting of Presidents of South American Countries, held in Brazil, a vital topic was the climate emergency to be able to coordinate institutions in South America, working groups to support policies, “he said.
He stressed that Venezuela is experiencing the hottest year in its history: “We have been up to 4º Celsius above average.”
