Brenda López, representative of Nicaragua, achieved the title of first runner-up 2024 and Best Silhouette in the Miss International Trans beauty pageant, one of the most prominent LGBTIQ beauty pageants in the world and which was held in Antwerp, Belgium.
López traveled to Europe for the event’s concentration on December 2. During the week, the representative of Nicaragua participated in sports competition and public speaking events, in addition to meeting and sharing experience with Human Rights representatives from the diverse community in that country.
López’s participation was outstanding, stated missiologist Jen Castro in her evaluation of the event, and also commented that the Nicaraguan candidate could perfectly have won the crown; However, the judges leaned more towards the representative of Peru.
During her official presentation at the event, Brenda called on members of the LGBTIQ Community to respect each other first in order to then demand respect from the world. She also asked society in general to empathize with human beings who share a different sexuality.
During the round of questions, López was asked if she won the crown what her contribution would be to the trans community, the beauty queen responded: “I think what I would contribute would be a way of educating people through our social networks because education makes a big difference in maturity, social networks can be a weapon or a blessing,” he stated.
Karla Gautier, from France, achieved the position of Second Finalist and the Peruvian Keyla Fernández won the crown of Miss International Trans 2024.
BeLo, as Brenda is also known, was born as Brandón López, he lived his childhood as a boy, it was not until he was 14 years old that he decided to transition into a woman, which brought him a shower of criticism; However, she did not stop her goal of becoming a trans woman; on the contrary, at a young age she began her hormonal treatment with the support of her mother.
She has a long career in modeling in Nicaragua, she is known as the first transsexual model, she has participated in the most important fashion platforms in the Central American country, including ExpoModa and Nicaragua Diseña.
BeLo currently resides in Nicaragua and together with her mother runs a beauty salon specializing in makeup.
