Brazilian: Verdão and Galo tie and Corinthians takes the lead

In front of an audience of more than 40 thousand people at Allianz Parque, Palmeiras and Atlético-MG did not live up to expectations and drew 0-0, for the ninth round of the Brazilian Championship. With the result, both teams go to 16 points in the table, seeing Corinthians, which had started the round tied with the two, take the isolated lead of the competition, with 18 points. In the last game this Saturday (4), Timão beat Atlético-GO away from home by 1-0.Brazilian: Verdão and Galo tie and Corinthians takes the lead

The game had a tense atmosphere, present from the beginning, when, before the 10th minute, Nacho Fernandez, from Galo and Gabriel Menino, from Palmeiras, were surprised. The two would again have problems in the first half, with each receiving a yellow card.

The beginning of the game also had bad news for Verdão. Raphael Veiga, one of the main highlights of the team, felt the back of his right thigh in a rush and was replaced by Rafael Navarro in the 13th minute.

At 17, after a free kick from the left, Eduardo Sasha amended his bicycle and almost scored a goal for Atlético. The ball passed over the left post of goalkeeper Marcelo Lomba.

Palmeiras’ best chance was in stoppage time, when Rafael Navarro received a nice shot from Dudu and went straight to Everson’s face. However, he shot to the right of the goal, missing a great opportunity.

In the second half, none of the goalkeepers worked very hard. Ron had a chance but finished wide. Gustavo Scarpa took a free-kick from afar and Everson defended in two halves.

Palmeiras players asked for a red card for midfielder Otávio after stepping on Scarpa, but he only received a yellow card. At 35, Ademir had the last good chance of the match, but he submitted out.

The goalless draw represented Palmeiras’ 15th consecutive match without defeat (in the Brazilian, they only lost their debut game, against Ceará). The team seeks to expand the mark on Thursday (9), against Botafogo, again at Allianz Parque. The day before, which is behind Palmeiras in third place by the tie-breaking criteria, faces Fluminense at Maracanã.
