Bolsonaro and Moro for thorny lane in elections Brazil 2022

Both already see how the pre-candidate for the Workers’ Party (PT), former president Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva, is the favorite in all the polls to win next October.

Bolsonaro and Moro not only watch him from a disadvantage, but their strategies to reverse Lula’s upward move fail in the eyes of Brazilians, according to analysts.

In a recent interview in the weekly Veja, the president of the Ipespe company, Antonio Lavareda, said -based on recent research- that the Aid for Brazil program launched by the president last November has not had the effect expected by the government.

According to Lavareda, the president fought with all his weapons to approve this benefit, consisting of granting subsidies equivalent to 73 dollars a month to 14.5 million families, with the hope of capturing the vote of lower-class voters.

But even so, Bolsonaro has not gained points in the polls, which shows the failure of the strategy, the expert said.

Analyzing the results of the survey carried out by Ipespe, the specialist mentioned as another important point the strategic error of the head of state, who until now has addressed the base of the pyramid of voters, but his problem is not there, according to Lavareda. .

He explained that in the simulations of a second round, the president loses in all the scenarios proposed, since he would fail against his opponents Lula, Ciro Gomes, João Doria or Moro.

Lavareda pointed out another piece of evidence that the survey showed, and that is that the idea used by some that Moro would easily consolidate in third place, collapsed.

The analyzes showed that Gomes still has strength as a candidate and is tied with the former judge, the expert said.

In addition, in this context, not a few specialists consider that if the former judge still had hopes of seeing his numbers improve in the polls for the presidency, the game turned against him when he went from magistrate to being investigated.

National media reports that Moro tried to make a name for himself as a great defender of honesty and executioner of the corrupt, but today, ironically, he is the subject of a procedure in the Federal Supreme Court.

This instance investigates possible irregularities committed in the provision of services that he would have performed for companies that were the object of Lava Jato (2018), the largest anti-corruption operation carried out in the South American giant.

The Brazilian justice also considers that the former magistrate was not impartial in the trials carried out against Lula and based on this and other evidence, all the convictions for alleged corruption attributed to the leader of the PT, arrested at the time after an order signed by Moro, were annulled.

Now Lula is free and is his opponent in the presidential race in October, in which the forecasts do not see any winning chance for the former magistrate.

Moro has to see how the popularity of the PT leader continues to rise, whom even the polls anticipate as a possible winner in the first round.
