Bolivian President travels to Cuba for ALBA-TCP summit

La Paz, Dec 13 (Prensa Latina) The president of Bolivia, Luis Arce, announced today his visit to Cuba to attend tomorrow the twentieth summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Agreement (ALBA- TCP).

In his Twitter account, the president indicated that he handed over the Staff of Command to Vice President David Choquehuanca “before leaving for #Cuba, where we will carry out an official visit and participate in the XX @ALBATCP Summit.”

The meeting this Tuesday will celebrate the XX years of unity and concertation of the integration bloc, and will discuss issues such as the confrontation with the Covid-19 pandemic, the action program for the coming year and the interference of the United States in the region. .

Cuban Vice Minister of Foreign Relations Josefina Vidal declared that the meeting “will be a good opportunity to jointly evaluate the regional scenario, the actions to guarantee peace and stability, as well as political agreement to prevent interference in our internal affairs.”

The general secretary of ALBA-TCP, Sacha Llorenti, for his part, in a press conference in Havana ratified, on the eve of the meeting, the commitment to defend sovereignty and independence and the strengthening of economic exchange.

He also affirmed that the Latin American integration body bets on the Bolivarian and Martian doctrine against the Organization of American States that intends to impose the Monroe Doctrine.

The Bolivian politician praised the reintegration of Saint Lucia to the bloc and the role played by Cuba in the development of vaccines and medicines to face the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes Covid-19.

Founded in Havana on December 14, 2004 by leaders Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez, the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Agreement is made up of 10 nations from Latin America and the Caribbean.

Its principles include unity, agreement and the defense of solidarity and cooperation mechanisms, in contrast to the selfish policies imposed by the current international economic order.
