Estudiantes de La Plata and Newell’s Old Boys are leaders after their respective victories

Boca Juniors beat Tigre 5-3 and River Plate fell 1-0 on their visit to Colón in two games that gave continuity to the third day of the Argentine soccer league tournament, which has Estudiantes and Newell’s Old Boys as leaders.
Late this Wednesday, Boca Juniors won the ‘Bombonera’ at home 5-3 against Tigre with goals from Darío Benedetto (2), Exequiel Zeballos (2) and Nicolás Demartiniagainst his fence, while Mateo Retegui (2, one penalty) and Jorge Figal, also against his fence, converted for the visit.
With this victory, the Xeneize accumulates six units just like Platense -this Thursday hosts Gimnasia-, one point behind the leaders Estudiantes de La Plata and Newell’s Old Boys, who on Tuesday achieved victories against Sarmiento de Junín (2-1) and Talleres de Córdoba (0-1).
River Plate, meanwhile, is still unable to win in this tournament and after two draws with a blank scoreboard this Wednesday they lost 1-0 in their visit to Santa Fe against Colón with a goal from Ramón ‘Wanchope’ Ábila.
In this way, the Millionaire remains with two units in the lower part of the classification, whilee Colón reached five points after this win and two draws.
In other results recorded this Wednesday, Union beat Barracas Central 1-2, while Banfield and Atlético Tucumán added respective wins 2-1 against Central Córdoba and Lanús.
On Tuesday, at the beginning of the day, San Lorenzo tied 3-3 with Arsenal de Sarandí, Patronato defeated Aldosivi from Mar del Plata 1-0 while Defense and Justice equaled 1-1 with Huracán.
The end of this third day will be this Thursday with four gameswith the presentation of Platense (the only team that added consecutive victories in the first two days) against Gimnasia, the crossing of Racing Club against Vélez, the visit of Independiente to Argentinos Juniors and the confrontation of Rosario Central against Godoy Cruz.
