Boats and trips: eye-catching investments in the UNA

By Macarena Duarte

Awarded for a value of G. 848,995,600, the company Sensicred SA won a call for bids convened by the Rectorate of the UNA. The process consists of a multi-year open contract from 2022 to 2023 and the winning firm was the only one to apply for the call.

Known as “Acquisition of International Air Tickets”, the call for tenders was made under the category of Tickets and Transportation, with a single item being awarded: the provision of international air tickets.

Explaining the reason for the urgency of the award and the benefit of the process, Perla Chamorro, director of the Contracting Operational Unit (UOC), indicated that it is being carried out because the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Miguel Wenceslao, must participate in a congress in which the institution represented on this occasion by the aforementioned authority must be found.

Likewise, the person in charge of the contracting department spoke of other people in charge of various other projects, corresponding to the Multidisciplinary Center for Technological Research (Cemit), who must travel for the same purpose. In this sense, the urgency of the award, Chamorro highlighted it due to the necessary participation of the Rector’s Office in the aforementioned activities.

The acquisition of the tickets should already materialize these days because the representation of the Rectorate abroad is expected for next week, between March 30 and April 1, in Colombia and Buenos Aires.

ANOTHER AWARD
On the other hand, there is the award for a value of G. 39,999,960 for the firm Aseguradora del Este SA de Seguros, for the “Contracting of Insurance for Vessels Type Boats and Outboard Motors of the Rectorate”. Carried out by the type of Direct Contracting, the process is also multi-year, from 2021 to 2022.

Under the “Insurance” category, three items were awarded, highlighting the model of each vessel: Alumicavel Pira 500, for G. 11,967,720; Alumicavel Class II 3500 CBS, by G. 5.598.120 and Alumicavel Tracker, by G. 22.434.120

With respect to the reason why they make a call for tenders for boat insurance, the director of the UOC was unable to give a pertinent explanation, alleging that she has no knowledge of the aforementioned process.
In the same way, she added that her ignorance is due to her assumption, which was only in January of this year, arguing that previously there was another person in charge of the department, for which she was not aware of the tenders made during that period. .

In this sense, it should be noted that the award process corresponds to last year and its publication was observed on April 26, 2021. The contract was issued on July 13 of that year and the end of the execution of the document is scheduled for July 9, 2023.

However, despite the fact that the director could not provide further details about the main characteristics of the boat insurance for the Rectorate or the urgency of it, she analyzed that it probably corresponds to the water sampling of the Itaipu and Yacyretá Binationals, carried out by the Cemit.

He stressed that logically they must carry out their projects with the insured vessels, since they cannot carry out their sampling without it.

Likewise, he explained that the aforementioned ships are used only for the work of the Cemit.
