The development of the first half between the ´brand new champion of the Professional League, Boca, and the recently relegated, Patronato, did not undress those realities, but others linked exclusively to the game itself, and in that contribution the people from Entre Ríos were superior due to intensity and intentions.
The dynamics not exempt from good football that the team led by Facundo Sava proposed throughout the LPF competition, in which they finished tenth with 40 points developing a very good campaign that exonerated them from relegation, something in which they fell due to bad seasons previous ones that exceeded “Colorado”, was extended to tonight’s game.
And in that aspect the superiority of the people from Entre Ríos settled in a football unit different from the one of this Boca de Hugo Ibarra that had the 11 players changed with respect to the team that was crowned champion of the LPF last Sunday after drawing with Independiente.
The Formosan coach’s argument to modify the starting line-up by one hundred percent from one game to the next was based on the obvious physical and mental fatigue of the players who had just become champions of the local competition.
Of course, this implied a risk, beyond the fact that many of them, especially the components of the midfield, Cristian Medina, Esteban Rolón and Martín Payero, had already played together in the previous match of this Argentine Cup that they beat Quilmes.
But in the last antecedents and already on the side of the Board of Trustees, the last steps before the two greatest in Argentine football, River, whom he eliminated on penalties in the previous instance of this Argentine Cup, and Boca himself, whom he overwhelmed by 3 to 0 in Paraná by the LPF, they also encouraged the rojinegros from Entre Ríos to go for everything regardless of the instance or the shirt they had in front of them.
And after so much going and searching, this Board of Trustees that is “spicy” in attack (he scored 31 goals in the Professional League championship) reached the goal, deserved at that point, through the powerful striker Marcelo Estigarribia, just over half an hour match, who in a long sprint beat the weak Facundo Roncaglia with his body.
From then until the end of the first half, the characteristics of the match were not modified by the plausible attitude of the Board of Trustees, who despite the advantage continued to go for more against a disjointed Boca with no ideas.
However, at the start of the complement Sava saw things that did not completely close him and made two variants of movement, touching fifty percent of the defensive line of four, which was all his left wing, with the departures of the reprimanded Juan Cruz Joker and Lucas Kruspzky.
Boca, meanwhile, with the 11 from the beginning, tried to show another face and sought to attack with more impetus, trying to take advantage of Sebastián Villa, who had been very isolated in the initial stage.
The Colombian went from the left of the Boca attack, where he had not been able to with Raúl Lozano’s effective mark, towards the middle, and from there he came into contact with the ball a little more.
And his hierarchy ended up doing the rest when shortly before half an hour he hooked inside the “Patrón” area and was shot down by captain Carlos Quintana, generating the consequent penalty kick that Villa himself transformed into a tie by finishing off Facundo’s left Altamirano, who threw himself to his right.
From then on, the development became more frictional, because the Patronato players were very vehement at each divided ball, forcing the referee Yael Falcón Pérez to admonish eight of them against none of the “xeneize”.
And in the end Patronato was again the one from the beginning, the one from the first half, pressing Boca against Javier García and causing a couple of free throws from the sides of the auriazul area that generated a certain risk for the LPF champion.
But nothing was going to change and the story was going to be settled definitively from the 12 steps, in Boca’s first experience in this tournament and the second of the Board after the one mentioned against River.
And in this instance, the Board of Trustees has a giant of the goal like the former Banfield, Facundo Altamirano, who against River had contained three penalties in the series of penalties and today he repeated the same amount, although against the “millionaires” he had saved another during the 90 minutes.
In this way, Patronato repeated Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata in 2018, when they successively eliminated River and Boca to reach the final that they later lost to Rosario Central.
But now Board of Trustees will have the opportunity to enlarge its historybecause if on Sunday in Mendoza he beats Talleres, from Córdoba, who this Wednesday left Banfield on the road, he will have qualified for nothing more and nothing less than the Copa Libertadores 2023, although next year he will have to play in the First National .
Y this final will have an unprecedented event, since it will be starred for the first time by two teams from the interior of the country.
