3-2: Olimpia already smells the title

3-2: Olimpia already smells the title

The Olympiafrom Honduras, defeated this Wednesday by 3-2 the Alajuelense, from Costa Rica, in an even game in which, however, the local team created more dangerous chances. Olimpia came out faster in the first half, with Michael Chirinos as their main playmaker down the right flank and centering into the area for his attacking partners to seek to finish off the rival goal.

In the 11th minute, Chirinos, in another great run, crossed for José Pinto to arrive on time and make it 1-0. Two minutes later, in another play by Chirinos, this time from the left, he was brought down in the area by Ian Smith and the referee did not hesitate to award a penalty. Fortune played for Alajuelense as Leonel Moreira saved Brayan Moya’s penalty.

The Costa Rican team did their thing, on the counterattack, but without forcefulness, with Johan Venegas appearing in the match. When the first half was about to end, Venegas made the tie 1-1, from a penalty.

In the second half, Olimpia entered the attack again and soon, in the 47th minute, Jorge Álvarez scored the second goal, well done, for the Honduran team led by the Argentine Pedro Troglio.

Chirinos was still a nightmare for the Alajuelense defense, and in minute 67, he entered the area and after beating several defenders, he finished high for another great goal from Olimpia and made it 3-1. The Alajuelense Sports League did not finish ordering itself and its attempts to shorten distances remained on the edge of the Olimpia area.

But on a counterattack, Giancarlo González ran into the area to shoot high and with a header to beat the Olimpia goalkeeper and make the score 3-2. The second goal encouraged Alajuelense more, who at least tried to equalize, but time was not enough.

The final of the Concacaf League will be defined in Costa Rica on November 2, with the slight advantage in favor of Olimpia.
