The Environmental Forest Police (Pofoma) concluded that the images circulating on social networks, about an alleged biocide inside the Vesty Pakos biopark, are false. The photos “do not correspond to any animal in custody,” indicates the report of the police institution.
“In response to complaints made on social networks (Facebook), the undersigned researcher in coordination with Dr. Ramiro Cadena Fiscal de Materia, set out to verify the possible death of 50 animals in the Vesty Pakos Biopark, where, when conducting the first interviews, it was possible to verify that the image shown in the complaint in the RRSS does not correspond to any animal in the custody of the Vesty Pakos Biopark, ”says the report of the Pofoma investigator, published by the mayor of La Paz.

The document indicates that “the figure of 50 deaths of animals is due to the death of approximately 50 Andean lizards and canaries between the months of January and May.”
The report explains that in the Biopark there are veterinarians and nutritionists who care for the animals.
“It is noted that the veterinary medical review was carried out every day at the head of three veterinary doctors and also having a nutritionist to verify the feeding of all the animals.”
The general director of Biodiversity and Protected Areas of the Ministry of the Environment, Omar Yuma, suggested this Friday that the biopark should be closed temporarily and announced a process against the community of La Paz for alleged negligence and biocide.
“According to our competence and given that the municipality is not taking due precautions, it is not being responsible, we are initiating a process against the Mayor’s Office for negligence and biocide. We are also requesting the temporary suspension of its operating license. Temporarily we are going to do it (close the Biopark) until the investigations are carried out into what were the causes to arrive at the concrete”, Yuma told radio Fides.
