Complaints against the energy company are not limited to high costs, but also include frequent interruptions in service, which further aggravates the situation. Added to this are the increases in charges for street lighting and cleaning, which affect all social strata.

Users are demanding greater representation in decision-making related to utility rates. “It is crucial that the control representatives are heard and that spaces are established where the community can express its concerns,” said a community spokesperson. He stressed that, despite the government’s efforts to open spaces to diverse populations, there is still a gap in the representation of energy users.

The lack of a clear process for drawing up tariff formulas has led many to feel unprotected. “The rights of users must be respected and we must be an active part of these discussions,” insisted the community representative.

In this context, the inhabitants of Bajo Putumayo are calling for the creation of development and social control committees that will allow for the unification of criteria and give a voice to those affected by these decisions. The community hopes that their claims will be addressed and that measures will be taken to ensure greater transparency in the setting of energy rates.
