The senator of the National Party, Graciela Bianchi, echoed the decision of the University of the Republic (udelar), about not dismissing a teacher denounced for sexual harassment.
The direction of the Central Board of Directors (CDC) of the University of the Republic (UdelaR) decided not to dismiss Mathematics teacher Martín Sambarino. He himself exercises his profession in the Faculty of Sciences and was denounced for harassment in 2019.
«We hope that the final resolution of the UdelaR on Prof. Sambarino will be a change of focus on the use and abuse of gender ideology. We trust that it reflects and that it is compensated for the damages; those that are possible”, explained Graciela Bianchi, deputy nationalist.
While to carry out the expulsion of the teacher from the study center, two thirds of the body was needed. However, out of a total of 20 members, only a total of 7 voted affirmatively, nullifying the request.
In addition, if there was consensus in establishing that the teacher’s attitude was something “inappropriate” and clearly “serious”. Although some sanction may be imposed, the student will not be dismissed from the house of studies to which he lends his knowledge.
