The Minister of Labor, Betssy Chavezin his capacity as congressman for the Democratic Peru caucus, filed a constitutional complaint against the president of congress, Maria del Carmen Alvafor violation of the Constitution and for illicit offenses defined in the Penal Code.
As specified in the document that Alva promotes and encourages changes in the Constitution in order to weaken the presidential figure in order to obtain the overthrow of President Pedro Castillo. In addition, he refers to the meeting he held with other congressmen at the invitation of a German NGO.
“The purpose of those attending the meeting is to create new grounds to vacate, suspend or constitutionally remove the president by modifying the Magna Carta to submit it to its coup purpose, giving it an appearance of legality,” he details.
Meanwhile, regarding the penal norms infringed, it is argued that there would be the commission of the crime of criminal organization by promoting, organizing and coordinating tasks and functions to depose a legally constituted government. It is also noted that the crime of conspiracy to rebellion, sedition or mutiny is committed.
Finally, it points out as an aggravating circumstance that Alva “has been actively participating in denounced acts that constitute conspiratorial acts to overthrow the government.”
