Guido Bellido surprised more than one congressman by vote in favor of the report that recommends shelving the constitutional complaint against Manuel Merino and former ministers Ántero Flores-Aráoz and Gastón Rodríguez for the death of Inti and Bryan.
Together with him, Waldemar Cerrón also voted in favor, brother of the leader of Peru Libre, Vladimir Cerrón. After being the target of criticism, Bellido spoke out on his social networks to justify his decision in favor of Merino and the other defendants.
Through his Twitter account, he remarked that “no matter how many political enemies they may be, truth and objectivity must prevail over any subjectivism.”

The perulibrista points out that his position in favor of impunity in the murders of Inti and Bryan was because the report by parliamentarian Alejandro Cavero, head of the Subcommittee on Constitutional Accusations, did not identify those responsible for the murder.
Likewise, it indicates that Merino’s case remains in the hands of the Public Ministry, since a false accusation “exempts those responsible.”
Peru Libre shields Manuel Merino
On the last Friday, July 1, the congressmen Waldemar Cerrón and Guido Bellido ended up voting in favor of the report that recommends filing the constitutional complaint against Manuel Merino.
This time the position of the perulibristas was contrary to Vladimir Cerrón, leader of Peru Libre, who questioned Congresswoman Rosio Torres (Alliance for Progress) for favoring Merino in the Subcommittee on Constitutional Accusations, on June 17,
Cerrón criticized that Torres’ casting vote has served for the group led by Cavero to recommend filing the complaint against Merino and the others prosecuted for the events that occurred on November 14, 2020.
