the polish striker Robert Lewandowski declared to be “proud” and aware of the “enormous challenge” that awaits him at FC Barcelona, the club in which he was presented on Friday at the Camp Nou (see video at the end of the note), a week before the start of the League.
Star signing of the summer, the Polish attacker was transferred for a period of 5 years and for 50 million euros ($50.8 million) on July 19, from Bayern Munich.
“I am very proud to be here. It’s a huge challenge, not only as a scorer but also to push the other players to give their best,” the 33-year-old forward told a press conference.
“I know that recent times have not been easy for the club, but I know that I can be better in the future with this team. We have huge potential,” he added.
The Pole was acclaimed by the fans on the Camp Nou pitch, in which he gave the traditional touches to the ball already wearing the number 9.
The president of Barca, Joan Laporta, was present next to his new signing and he expects a lot from the former Bayern player, author of 344 goals in 375 games during his 8 years at the Bavarian club. “This operation was not easy, but he is a player who is very committed to Barça,” acknowledged the Spanish manager.
Lewandowski debuted with the colors of Barça on July 24, in a friendly Clásico won 1-0 in Las Vegas against Real Madrid, his great rival.
