BanCoppel will fight market with fintech in the placement of credit cards

BanCoppel said that the business model they have has a great advantage because they provide users with other types of services, as well as credit such as savings and investments. In addition, the presence of branches complements the offer and generates trust among its customers.

Until the end of 2021, BanCoppel had a network of 14,784 branches in the country.

The Brazilian fintech Nubank, which arrived in Mexico in 2019, became the first credit card issuer with more than 54 million customers in the country.

Regarding the impact of the interest rate hike cycle, BanCoppel expects the rate to reach 8.5% by the end of the year. The bank said that this upward cycle will not affect the cost of credit that users will have.

“We don’t see any impact on the consumer, we continue to charge the same rate and we will stay the same for the next few months,” López-Moctezuma said.
