Last Thursday, February 17, the ruling party issued a statement through its social networks, where clarified his position regarding the motion of censure presented against the president of Congress, María del Carmen Alva, and the vice president, Lady Camones. As explained by Peru Libre, they will not give in to the decision made, since they mention that part of the responsibility of the instability generated in Congress was caused by Alva and his alliances with other parties.
“Mrs. Alva’s call to put “cold cloths” in the face of the situation of political instability, that she has generated in collusion with the groups of Fuerza Popular, Renovación Popular, Avanza País and some congressmen isolated from other groups is unnecessary, because it depends on them, to put an end to the destabilizing and coup strategy that they execute since the installation of the government”, reads the first point of the statement.
Likewise, the ruling party had already mentioned in the motion of censure document presented that they considered that “the events that occurred within Congress made them unworthy to continue exercising the positions of the Board of Directors, compromising the honorability and credibility of the Congress of the Republic.” In the same way, in their last office they reiterated their position and made it very clear that they will not change their opinion, since they do not consider that there is any “political gesture” that promotes national unity.

“It is not possible to consider the withdrawal of the motion of censure against the president and first vice president of Congress, since there are no political gestures that promote national unity,” reads the second point.
Finally, in the document they explained that another of the reasons why Peru Libre would not give in, regarding censorship, are the vacancy attempts against the head of state Pedro Castillo Terrones, since they openly reject the ‘coup’ and fight for democracy.
“The Bancada de Perú Libre remains firm in presenting the motion of censure, as well as the constitutional complaints against the president of Congress, María del Carmen Alva, for organizing the vacancy against the president of the Republic, legitimately elected by the Peruvian people. Our position is irreconcilable with the coup, in defense of democracy, governance and the rule of law”, the document concluded.
