Balance Covid-19: Minsal reports 2,467 new cases and positivity at the national level reaches 13.22%

The Ministry of Health (Minsal) communicated this Wednesday a new report on the situation of Covid-19 in our country. In this regard, they indicated that during the last 24 hours, 2,467 new cases have been registered, of which 1,804 correspond to people with symptoms, 119 asymptomatic.

Regarding the diagnostic capacity of Covid-19, 10,650 tests were taken in the last 24 hours (antigens and PCR), marking a total of 47,741,205 tests so far in the pandemic in our country. The positivity for the last 24 hours at the country level is 13.22% and in the Metropolitan Region it is 12.70%.

According to sampling, the regions with the highest positivity in the last week are Antofagasta, Arica and Parinacota, Tarapacá and O’Higgins.

Meanwhile, the Atacama region has the highest current incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by Arica and Parinacota, Tarapacá and Ñuble.

Other figures

To date, 103 people are hospitalized in Intensive Care Units, of which 71 remain with mechanical ventilation support. Regarding the Integrated Health Network, there are a total of 367 critical beds available for the patient who requires it, regardless of the region where they are located.

According to the information provided by the Department of Statistics and Health Information (DEIS), the total number of deaths associated with COVID-19 went from 63,200, corresponding to the last report on January 1, to 63,243, as reported in the report of this January 4, which represents 43 new deaths. In the last 24 hours, 5 deaths were registered due to causes associated with COVID-19.
