A journey through the history of bachata, beginning with its first creator, José Manuel Calderón, until reaching The Bachata Kidthat was what happened on Saturday at the Teatro La Fiesta.
The hall was comfortably full. In spite of Marco Antonio Solís at the Sports Palace and Steel Butterflies at the National Theater.
Bachata & Bolero in Jaragua was produced by Mayobanex Bautista, with artistic direction by Eriko Zapata and animation by Michael Miguel.
The bachata orchestra made up of 11 musicians was led by Davicito Paredes, seconded by his friend Martires de León. It is the most respected one-two in the Dominican Republic for both recording and live performances.
Leonardo Paniagua, one of the pioneers of bachata, was in charge of opening the presentations. He was followed by El Chaval de la Bachata, who delivered several of his songs, to finish with Where are those friends?, a classic with which he hit national and international level for the first time.
El Chaval de la Bachata is one of the current pillars of the genre. Each video clip of his achieves millions of views, placing him very well among the youth who consume YouTube and other streaming platforms.
The show also featured a dance group that enlivened its corridors with one or another song by each performer.
Ramón Torres «El Poeta», followed El Chaval. The author of the inevitable social chronicle From Higüey to the capital gave away four other songs, including the one he sings, «machine, machine, machine». His style mixes the naive with the picaresque, without neglecting a type of authentic and popular poetry.
When the undersigned left the Teatro La Fiesta, El Jibarito de Lares, Alexandra and Frank Reyes were yet to perform at the great bachata party.
The show was the first approach of the producer to what is going to be the 1st World Festival of Bachata RD, which will be held next year, organized by BQ Producciones, on a date that will be announced before the end of the year, in which, in addition, to reflect on the genre, concerts and shows will be held, as well as award-winning artists of the genre, musicians, composers, record producers, among others.
