The governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, accompanied by the President of the Nation, Alberto Fernández, announced the inauguration of the dome of the Roca line train station, in the City of La Plata. Also present were the Minister of Transportation of the Nation, Alexis Guerrera; the Minister of Social Development, Victoria Tolosa Paz, and the president of Trenes Argentinos, Martín Marinucci.
For this renovation project, 986 million pesos were invested. The governor pronounced that “this work is finished after four years that were not only delays, but setbacks for the national and Buenos Aires railway system.” Also, Axel Kicillof He said that the lack of a roof is “the product of the failure of the policies that promote the withdrawal of the State.”
“The train in our country is an instrument of inclusion, integration and social justice, since it gives us back the right to travel, work, rest and, above all, to have a better future (…) it is a milestone, an element historical and a true symbol of the city”, mentioned the governor.
This work, part of the Rail Transport Modernization Plan, also contemplates the renovation of the footbridge system and the infrastructure so that maintenance personnel can carry out the tasks of washing the train and eardrums. On the other hand, LED lighting was installed and an investment of 110 million pesos was signed to readjust the exterior waterproofing of the dome, drum and roofs surrounding the main one.

In 2017, the glass and metal roof of the La Plata station was dismantled, however, the reconditioning works did not begin until September 2020, when it was resumed. Work began in April 2021.
Months ago, the workers were in charge of enhancing the emblematic structure of the station in the capital of the province of Buenos Aires, which is 150 meters long, by replacing all the sheets, glass and structural parts of the dome.
