Actor Jeremy Renner, known for playing Hawk Eye in Marvel movies, is in a “critical, though stable” situation after suffering an accident shoveling snow.

“We can confirm that Jeremy is in critical but stable condition with injuries sustained after having a weather-related accident while shoveling snow,” the actor’s representative confirmed to Variety magazine.

The 51-year-old actor has a house in Whashoe County, in the state of Nevada. However, it has not been confirmed whether the accident occurred at this location. Weather reports indicate that heavy snowfall was reported in northern Nevada due to a storm on New Year’s Eve.

Renner began his acting career in 1995. He gained recognition in the film industry by starring in the critically acclaimed film The Hurt Locker (2008), which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.

In October 2011, he began dating Sonni Pacheco, with whom he had a daughter named Ava Berlin. The couple married, but divorced in less than a year. The breakup led to a legal dispute over total custody of his daughter.

As reported by local media, “Renner suffered the accident while he was using a snowplow to clear snow from around his home. A few weeks ago the actor had uploaded an image on twitter showing the seriousness of the storm that was hitting the Nevada area. The post, in addition to the image, had a text that read: “Snowfall on Lake Tahoe is no joke.” The actor dug up part of the vehicle so that fans could see that behind that pile of snow was his car, although only one window was visible.

Jeremy Renner, participated in Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation, decided not to appear in Mission Impossible Fallout. The decision is given for having conflicts with the recording schedule of Mission Impossible and The Avengers.
