Judith Pena | February 25, 2023

After two buses on the Panama-Darién route were involved in traffic accidents and a fire, while they were transporting irregular migrants to the Gualaca area, in Chiriquí, the Land Transit and Transportation Authority (ATTT) reported that will conduct inspections.

The entity regretted the event that occurred in the morning in the province of Veraguas, in the Los Ruices area where the bus with registration number 5B-16 that was transporting migrants from Metetí caught fire on the Pan-American Highway, fortunately there were no injuries or victims to regret.

The regulatory body for land transport highlighted that the buses destined to transport irregular migrants on the route from Metetí in Darién to Gualaca in Chiriquí, have their respective operating certificates and current insurance policy.

“Due to the fortuitous events that occurred consecutively, it has been decided to carry out a rigorous inspection of all the vehicles that make this journey,” they stated.

They indicated that the inspection will take place tomorrow, Sunday, February 26, in the province of Darién, specifically in San Vicente, Metetí at 10:30 am.
