Until 2021, Atlético de Alagoinhas, in 50 years of history, had never been state champion. Now, you already have two titles to count. After beating Jacuipense 2-0 in Riachão de Jacuípe, the club won the Campeonato Baiano for the second consecutive year. Thiaguinho and Paulinho were the authors of the goals. The last time a team other than Vitória or Bahia won two trophies in a row was in 1943, when Galicia, from Salvador, won the last of three consecutive titles.
After the 1-1 draw in the first leg, in Alagoinhas, Jacuipense fans were excited about the possibility of securing the club’s first title at home, at Estádio Valfredão. However, the plans were thwarted early in the match. At 14 minutes, Miller kicked from outside the area, goalkeeper Mota palmed forward and Thiaguinho took the rebound to score.
From then on, what was seen was a home team trying to tie that would take the decision to penalties, in a tense environment. This was manifested in the expulsion of defender Newton, in the 18th minute of the second stage, for a hard entry in Sobral.

Sergipe is state champion after decades
On Saturday, Sergipe became Sergipe’s two-time champion, something that hasn’t happened since the team won six state titles in a row, between 1991 and 1996. Winner in 2021, the team reached the second title in a row in a final with Falcon, from Barra dos Coqueiros, a club founded in November 2020. After winning the first leg by 2 to 1, Sergipe could even lose by a goal difference that would be champion, but won the trophy by drawing 1 to 1. Brasiliense beats Ceilândia
In the Federal District there was also repetition. Brasiliense, champion last year, was bi in a new final against Ceilândia, also vice in 2021.
