At least four people died and more than 30 were injured as a result of a car accident occurred this Saturday in western Cuba.
The event occurred at kilometer 10 of the Havana-Melena highway, when a car from the National Bus Company, which was traveling from the Port of Batabanó to the Cuban capital, overturned, according to the Mayabeque Newspaper.
The bus was carrying travelers from the Isla de la Juventud and at the time of the accident it had 42 passengers on board, the publication reports.
The official report states that some thirty injured are treated at the Managua Polyclinic in Havana, while others receive care at the Miguel Enríquez Hospital and three children at the Juan Manuel Márquez pediatric hospital in Marianao.
In addition, it affirms that, after the fact, the experts examine the bus to determine the cause that caused the accident.
As reported days ago the National Road Safety Commission in the first four months of 2023 there were more than 3000 traffic accidents in Cuba, with a balance of 243 deaths and more than 2,300 injuries.
Among the main causes of these events, the authorities indicated “violation of the right of way, failure to control the vehicle, technical defects, speeding and driving under the ingestion of alcoholic beverages.”
