The stoppage of activities carried out by the Ancap union at the La Teja refinery last Tuesday It caused distortions in the marketing and distribution of fuels in the last two days. According to a survey carried out by the Uruguayan Fuel Distributor (Ducsa), at least a hundred service stations in different parts of the country they registered breaks in gasoline and / or diesel stocks at the close of the day this Wednesday.
“In effect, customers, distributors, concessionaires and consumers were affected. An error by the union leadership that Uruguayans pay dearly for,” Ancap vice president Diego Durand told El Observador.
In Uruguay there are 477 service stations, of which 288 (60% of the total) operated under the seal of the Ancap subsidiary (Ducsa), the rest are in the hands of Axion and Disa.
The Union of Nafta Vendors (Unvenu) issued a statement on Wednesday in which it indicated that given the “repeated problems in the supply of fuels” it is “urged to restore normal supply to service stations to supply the population normally.” According to the union, between Tuesday and Wednesday a “significant number of stations” registered stock breaks in gasoline, diesel, or both products.
“We request that the dialogue instances be exhausted to avoid affecting the other members of the supply chain and consequently the population. We trust the good faith of the actors and the proportionality of the measures,” said Unvenu.
