The Dominican Navy reported that it rescued 43 people from the boat that sank early Saturday morning, 7 miles from Guayacanes, in San Pedro de Macorís.
He said that of the 43 rescued, 16 were hospitalized and 27 are in the custody of the institution.
So far, the Navy has recovered four bodies and the exact number of those transported on the boat is still unknown.

He said the operation is ongoing and is under investigation.
The Navy command sent Canotus GC77, the Bellatrix GC106 fast boat, the Arlette LA01 boat and the Rigel interceptor boat. The Air Force and Civil Defense supported the mission.
Search operations will continue by order of Vice Admiral Agustín Morillo Rodríguez
