At least 30 children under the age of 4 have died from Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic

Negotiations with the pharmaceutical company Pfizer for the purchase of pediatric vaccines aimed at children under 4 years of age are advancing at a good pace, this was announced by the Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, when he reiterated that the arrival of this first batch is planned for the next month of October.
He revealed that around 30 children, in this age range, have died from covid-19 since the start of the pandemic, so it is important to immunize these children once the pediatric doses arrive for these minors between 6 months and 4 years. old.
Regarding the monkeypox vaccine, he explained that they are holding meetings with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) in order to find mechanisms to speed up the process of acquiring these vaccines.
He stressed that PAHO still does not have the date of receipt of the vaccines, but that within a month they would be giving the date for the delivery of the doses.
He indicated that Panama has requested around 1,400 doses of the vaccine to combat monkeypox and that they maintain epidemiological and genomic surveillance as well as traceability and follow-up of the contacts of people who have tested positive for this disease. Currently in Panama there are 12 confirmed cases of smallpox and all are males over 25 years of age.
