Madrid Spain.- A total of 187 Cuban rafters were arrested this weekend after reaching the shores of the United States.
“In the last two days, Border Patrol agents in the Miami Sector, together with the support of LE partners, responded to ten arrivals of migrants in the Florida Keys and arrested 187 Cuban migrants,” he specified this Sunday in Twitter Walter N. Slosar, chief of the maritime rescue corps in the Miami Sector.

Slosar also indicated that of those 187 rafters, 78 were arrested after arriving in five boats between Friday and Saturday.
According to the Miami Herald, there were 51 people in the largest landing, who arrived at the southernmost buoy in the state, in Key West.
Along with the information, Walter N. Slosar shared images of some of the boats used by Cubans to reach North American territory; all rustic and without the necessary conditions for crossings of this type.
Last Tuesday 43 Cubans were returned from the United States to the Island after several interdictions.
Giving the information, Lieutenant Commander Ryan Newmeyer, of the Seventh Coast Guard District, pointed out: “The sea is unforgiving and trying to leave Cuba to reach the United States in an irregular and unsafe manner only aggravates the risks for you. and for others”.
As on previous occasions, and given the increase in migration by sea, the US authorities called for the use of “safe and legal ways to reach the United States.”
Since October 1, 2021, the beginning of the current fiscal year, US Coast Guard crews have intercepted around 4,000 Cubans, a figure that exceeds the number of migrants from the island intercepted each fiscal year since 2017. until 2021.
According to the agency, the statistics have behaved as follows: 5,396 Cubans intercepted in fiscal year 2016; 1,468 in 2017; 259 in 2018; 313 in 2019; 49 in 2020 and 838 in 2021.
