The commemorative events for the 211th anniversary of Independence mark the agenda of the President of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle Pou, during his visit to our country, where he will also be decorated by the National Order of Merit and will be in the department of Itapúa.

This official mission, which began this Friday and runs until this Sunday, May 15, has as its central axis the celebrations for independence, the presidency reported through a statement.
Also to further strengthen the link that Lacalle Pou maintains with his counterpart, Mario Abdo Benítez.
The Uruguayan president traveled accompanied by his foreign minister, Francisco Bustillo, with a month and a half to go before the transfer of the presidency of the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) for the next semester between Paraguay and Uruguay takes place.
The Uruguayan president will begin his agenda on Saturday at 7 in the morning to lay a laurel wreath at the National Pantheon of Heroes.
Later he will travel, together with Abdo Benítez, to learn about the Guaraní Jesuit mission of Jesús Tavarangüe and inaugurate an intelligent tourism center.
In that same department, Itapúa, the presidents will meet with piglet producers, in the town of Obligado, and will attend a yerbetera plant, in Bella Vista.
On Sunday, back in the capital, Lacalle Pou and Abdo Benítez will meet at López’s palace.
Later, Lacalle Pou will receive the National Order of Merit in the degree of “Marshal Francisco Solano López Necklace”, a decoration that is awarded exclusively to heads of state.
The Uruguayan president will also attend the military-police parade on the Asunción waterfront, which is being held as part of the anniversary of Independence.
