The State Health Services Administration (ASSE) responded by the cessation of contracts, before the claim of the Federation of Public Health Officials (FFSP). The agency assured through a statement this Friday that the positions it hired in January 2022 “they had a completion date” and “the people hired and the FFSP knew about it”.
The union had reported the situation this Thursdayand had ensured that ASSE terminated 1,600 contracts so “abrupt”. For its part, ASSE maintained that these positions were hired in January 2022, when Uruguay was experiencing the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, and that 1,154 “had a completion date of March 31, 2022”.
The FFSP indicated, meanwhile, that the workers were notified that same day.
Throughout the pandemic, a total of 4,150 officials were hired by covid funds. Of those, 2,964 continue to work to date, ASSE reported. In addition, he added that he is “studying” with management, in contact with the FFSP and unions, what charges will continue due to the increase in the structure.
These new services were considered in the five-year budget and in the Rendering of Accounts and not by covid funds, he clarified.
For the FFSP, these cuts in health “can only bring more deterioration” of the quality of care in very sensitive areas, in addition to a greater wear on the health team, which, they said, “is already very resentful.”
