This Sunday the results of the evaluation of the financial management of the second year of the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador will be presented. The Superior Audit Office of the Federation (ASF) will deliver to the Chamber of Deputies the final report of the audit of the 2020 public account, which includes the analysis of the strategies of the federal government to face the covid-19 pandemic and the purchase of vaccines , medicines and medical supplies at the beginning of the health crisis.
The superior auditor, David Rogelio Colmenares Páramo, will deliver the report to legislators during a session of the ASF Surveillance Commission, which also includes new reviews of the cancellation of the New Mexico City International Airport (NAICM) and audits of the progress of priority projects of the 4T government, such as the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), the Mayan Train and the Dos Bocas refinery.
According to the Annual Audit Program for the Superior Control of the Public Account 2020, the review carried out by the ASF contemplates the performance of more than 1,600 audits, of which 750 were already delivered by the agency to the deputies last year, of in accordance with the provisions of the law.
Among those that will be presented, there are 12 related to the covid-19 pandemic, one of which was made to the Institute of Health for Well-being regarding the resources it allocated to the care of the health crisis.
The program also mentions an audit of the NAICM project management and another of the financial management of the project, 11 to different items of the AIFA construction, eight to the Mayan Train and seven to the Dos Bocas refinery.
The review also considered an evaluation and a study carried out on the Presidency of the Republic; the first regarding the international agenda and Mexico’s actions in the face of climate change, and the second about the National Digital Strategy.
The auditor is expected to make a presentation and each of the parliamentary groups sets positions on the subject in ascending order. There will also be a message from PRI member Pablo Guillermo Angulo, president of the commission.
Angulo reported that subsequent meetings will be held with the special auditors and the superior, which will be defined in the coming days by the commission’s board of directors to present them to the deputies and eventually approve them.
He also announced that officials and former officials who allegedly have misused public resources or legal powers, derived from the review carried out by the ASF, will be summoned.
The legislator promised to follow up on the reports of facts that are filed, emphasizing that he will insist on sanctioning officials who have committed diversion of resources or any act of corruption.
