Around 10,000 teachers will be trained in ‘Education on Sexuality and Affectivity’

On Monday, the Ministry of Education (Meduca) began training approximately 10,000 teachers from all over the country in the use of the Education Guides on Sexuality and Affectivity, with the aim of implementing preventive programs in terms of instruction.

The courses will last two weeks, the participation of 4,000 teachers is expected in the first week and about 6,000 in the second. The instruction will serve educators to support students in their life skills, and to make better decisions for our children and adolescents throughout the national territory.

This training is carried out virtually, with the collaboration of the ESTHER platform, specialists from the health area, Meduca’s psychosocial team, as well as the endorsement of the National Directorate for Professional Training and Improvement.

This pedagogical proposal consists of five didactic guides that enter in a transversal way aimed at parents, for orientation and training in the matter of education in sexuality and affectivity of children. In addition, students of general basic education of primary (1st-6th), pre-media (7th-9th), middle (10th-12th) and a guide aimed at pregnant adolescents, as secondary prevention for their orientation and project of life.

The guides contain topics that promote respect for human dignity, values ​​and the development of life skills and a series of workshops by academic degree, among other aspects.

Children, adolescents and parents or guardians will have guidance and information on sexuality and affectivity for the promotion of their physical and mental health.

The guides have an attachment framed in ethical, social, scientific, affective and pedagogical aspects, which prepare children and adolescents to face the challenges of daily life.
