The mayor of La Paz, Iván Arias, announced on Tuesday that the district of La Paz will install vaccination points in educational units with the aim of vaccinating 99% of the school population until March of this year. With this, it is expected to return to face-to-face classes throughout the municipality.

“On this opening day of the school year we have the commitment that until the first quarter, until March, we will make every effort so that 99% of the students, between five and 17 years of age, in the municipality of La Paz are vaccinated” said the mayor, according to a note from the Municipal News Agency.

To increase vaccination levels in this age group, the Mayor’s Office will move mobile vaccination points to the same educational units, especially the largest ones that concentrate a large number of students in the different shifts, but also to inoculate the teaching staff.

“As work begins in each educational unit, we are going to go with these mobile units to vaccinate teachers, administrative staff and, of course, students. We understand, in any case, that the Teachers (Urban de La Paz) have a high level of vaccination, due to the organization of their own union, ”he assured.

Until Monday, January 31, the house-to-house inoculation, in municipal hospitals and displaced mobile points in the city of La Paz, reached more than 21,000 people, Arias remarked.

“We have managed to vaccinate more than 21,000 people, this is a great response that we have had from the people and we are going to continue, that is why we set ourselves the goal of starting full face-to-face classes starting in March, as a municipal goal ”, affirmed the mayor of La Paz.

According to data from the Municipal Health Directorate, the target population for vaccination from five to 17 years old is 193,370. Of this total, 104,342 are children from five to 11 years old, 60,440 are between 12 and 15 years old and 28,588 are young people between 16 and 17 years old.
