Santo Domingo.- The company Argos Dominicana and Habitat for Humanity Dominican Republic reported yesterday that they impacted the lives of more than 850 people through the Healthy Environments project.

The goal of the project is to change living conditions and increase the health of families and collaborate with the economic growth of the communities in the municipality of San Gregorio de Nigua, San Cristóbal.

They reported that in this stage of the project, the homes of 33 families were improved, with the construction of polished cement floors, some bathroom units, and the repair of roofs in the communities of Malpáez, Boca de Nigua, Los Cajuiles, and Hato Viejo.

It also included an approach to the members of the communities, providing them with opportunities for empowerment and direct employment, as they themselves participated in the construction and labor tasks.

They reported that they integrate the community to contribute to the revitalization of the economy in the area, most of the acquisition of construction materials was from local businesses.

Jorge David Pérez, director of Argos for the Dominican Republic, expressed that “with great emotion we conclude the third stage of the Healthy Environments project, hand in hand with our strategic ally Habitat for Humanity.

With this, “we reaffirm our commitment to contribute to the development of the territory through support programs to improve and strengthen the living conditions of Dominican families.”

He said that from Argos Dominicana they have put their hearts into each improved space and we are pleased to see the results!”

He indicated that thanks to this project, since its inception in 2014, the lives of 230 families have been impacted, who with better living conditions will see a significant impact on their health and comprehensive well-being.

He stated that Argos Dominicana is an ally and promoter of the development of “our communities and we will continue to support the construction of housing and infrastructure dreams that enable a more sustainable, prosperous and inclusive society in our country.”

Throughout the process, more than 100 applications were received from the families who wanted to benefit from the program, there was a selection process for the most vulnerable cases, and the construction was accompanied by more than 100 volunteers and leaders. community.

While Cesarina Fabián, national director of Dominican Habitat, stated “we are satisfied with the results that we present today with the culmination of this wonderful life project, because we are sure that the health of each member of these families, today benefited, will count with better health and habitability conditions, without a doubt, it is much better now.

He said that with this project they achieved that more families have a decent, healthy and safe place to live, collaborating with the entrepreneurship of local businesses, the honest and responsible work of all construction workers in this community, helping to reactivate after the effects caused by the current pandemic.
