the vice president Beatrice Argimon said based on statistics that femicides are a “true scourge” and stated that “there are still” “more than worrying indicators”.
The hierarch referred to the cases after a man killed his ex-partner in the Paso de las Duranas neighborhood of Montevideo. “You always have to renew your work, which, as you know, is not easy. It involves the whole of society”he pointed out, recalling the possibility of making complaints anonymously.
He expressed that there are efforts “by not only this government” in raising awareness in society, and in preparing the institutions that work with the cases.
“We are still having indicators that are more than worrying,” he lamented.after expressing his “pain”.
