Argentinos Juniors came close to the top of the Professional Soccer League by beating Central Córdoba de Santiago del Estero as a visitor, 2 to 1, for the sixth date.

Nicolás Reniero (6m ST) and Miguel Torrén, from a penalty (30m ST), scored the goals for Argentinos; Jesús Soraire (22m ST) had achieved the tie for the locals.

The “Bicho” reached ten units and was three behind the leader, Newell’s, which on Monday will host the Patronato de Paraná in Rosario.

Argentinos started better and had a very clear chance to open the scoring at 9m, when Reniero, in the area, received a masterful pass from Vera, lowered it from his chest and finished off just wide.

Central Córdoba responded at 11m with a free kick in the form of a center by Ramírez that Kalinski, without a mark, could not connect correctly with his head.

That two-minute back-and-forth fueled hopes of seeing a good game, but it was an unfulfilled promise. There were no more risk arrivals in front of the goals in the initial stage.

In this context, Argentinos had a more thorough handling of the ball, but lacked depth.

Before the break, and perhaps in the highlight of the first half, the Argentinian coach, Gabriel Milito, was expelled and on his way out he crossed blows and attacks with Facundo Gareca, assistant to the “Railway” coach, Sergio Rondina.

The Santiago team took the initiative as soon as the complement began. Interestingly, it was in that initial passage when the “Bug” took advantage on the scoreboard.

Argentinos recovered the ball in their field after a long shot by Toselli, Cabrera reached the bottom on the right and sent a low cross and Reniero, anticipating the local defenders, crossed the shot to establish the 1-0.

The positions of one and the other did not change and the “Ferroviario”, even being inferior or less efficient than those of La Paternal, reached the tie at 22m, with a great header by Soraire after a center by Ramírez from the right. The joy was short-lived.

A few minutes later the debutant Cansinos slightly cleared a corner with his hand, the VAR and Trucco checked the foul and Torrén, with the consequent penalty, put the visitor 2-1.

From then until the end the dominance of Argentinos became firmer, who could not increase the difference due to Toselli, the sticks and the poor aim of their players when it came to defining.

On the next day, the seventh of the contest, Central Córdoba will visit Estudiantes de La Plata (Sunday 10 from 13) and Argentinos will receive Tigre (Monday 11 from 21:30).
