Berta Rojas’ most recent album, ‘Legado’, earned two nominations for the Latin Grammys 2022. This is the fourth edition in which the Paraguayan is nominated.
This Tuesday, September 20, the Academy of Latin Music announced the nominations for the Latin Grammys. Among them, there is again the national guitarist, Berta Rojas, who will compete for Best Classical Music Album and Best Contemporary Classical Work/Composition.
“Legado” is a tribute to Ida Presti and María Luisa Anido, pioneers in classical guitar, which has six compositions by both artists, as well as three works inspired by their skills. It also includes a musical portrait of Anido, commissioned by Rojas, to the renowned Brazilian guitarist, composer and arranger Sergio Assad.
Rojas extended his thanks through his social media accounts.
“Thanks to the Latin Academy of Music for these 2 nominations for Best Classical Music Album and Best Contemporary Classical Work/Composition. To Ida Presti and María Luisa Anido who dared to dream and create tremendous careers. To Maestro Sergio Assad for writing a work that celebrates the guitar, demands it and delights it in a creative flight that I have the honor of accompanying.
“To my production team that is not afraid of anything, because we are a family that dreams and that right is allowed! To Claudia Bobadilla, Daiana Prieto, Norma Prante, thank you! To Sebastián Henriquez for holding my hand. To Randy Roos for that incredible sound. To Candice Mowbray for dreaming this up before me. To La Rojita, for coming back to celebrate together, and to every woman who dares to follow her dreams!”, continues her message on Instagram.
It should be noted that already in 2012, Berta Rojas achieved her first nomination for the Latin Grammys, for “Día y medio”, a collaboration with Paquito de Rivera, as Best Instrumental Album. In 2014, she added her second nomination with “Salsa Roja”, in the category of Best Classical Album. While in 2015 she obtained her third nomination with “Historia del tango”, together with the Camerata Bariloche, as Best Tango Album.
“Legado” is available on the digital platforms Apple Music, Spotify, and Deezer, in addition to Zeppelin and Music Hall.
The 23rd Annual Latin Grammy Awards will take place on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas.
