The miners from the Callpa Renace camp in the Acari district in the province of Caravelí reported yesterday that they found 7 more bodies in the ravines, after the police found 7 bodies last week, as a result of the confrontation that took place to evict them.
With this finding, there are at least 14 deaths in this mining center. These last bodies were found in the ravine called Huanaquita, so they presume that they were thrown from the top of the mining center.
They also denounced that there are 8 people missing and they fear that they have been transferred to be tortured, or were buried somewhere in the area.
The workers staged a sit-in last night at the Panamericana Sur in Arequipa to ask the central government for the intervention of the Ministry of the Interior, as well as the presence of the military in the area to prevent further attacks and deaths.
“There are families in mourning, children, wives and mothers who cry for the disappeared. We just want to find them and bury them,” said one of the miners who participated in the sit-in last night.
