The sub-prefect of the province of Caravelí, Olga Carita Hancco, confirmed today that there are 7 deaths in the Kallpa Renace mining center in the district of Atico, after an attack on minor artisans took place on Thursday with the intention of evicting them.
The Police and Prosecutor’s Office confirmed yesterday that they arrested 32 people who will be investigated for the clashes in ehe Callpa Renace mining center. During the intervention, it was found 2 rifles with telescopic sight, 2 pistolsstocked pans and bulletproof vests.
The subprefect requested the intervention of the authorities to resolve the conflict and prevent more attacks and deaths from being recorded.
Of the 7 deceased, only 4 were identified and 3 are found as NN. They are Carlos Moisés Mendoza Angulo, Alex Castañeda Rivera, Roberto Milton Escalada Araujo, all miners from Callpa Renace.
It was also identified Jordy Jony Rivas Solorzano, who is presumed to be one of those hired to attack the mining center, because they found his DNI and Sucamec card in his pocket. the man was native of Callao.
The other 3 bodies have not yet been identified, but all the bodies were transferred last night to Arequipa, to be identified and determine the causes of their deaths.

The regional manager of Energy and Mines, Herberth Tanta, disclaimed responsibilities and noted that, As it is medium-sized mining, it is the responsibility of the General Directorate of Mining of the Ministry of Energy and Mines. to intervene in the area and in his opinion, one of the solutions would be suspend the Comprehensive Registry of Mining Formalization (Reinfo) of Callpa Renace to stop extracting mineral, as a sanction measure.
He explained that, by having the Reinfo, apparently they are in a formalization process, so they continue to work, despite the fact that they do not have the exploitation contract with the concessionaire that is the company Inti Gold Mining.
Herberth Tanta assured that the confrontation in the area reported to the General Directorate of Miningbut unfortunately they do not intervene directly to end the violence.
DISPUTE BETWEEN CALLPA RENACE AND CALLPA ATICO MINING CENTERS
Although the conflict dates back many years, the official reported that the concessionaire Inti Gold had a contract with Callpa Renace for the exploitation, but in the event of the alleged default of payments, decided to remove them and instead they placed the inhabitants of Atico under the name of Callpa Atico to work on the extraction.
This gave rise to a dispute over the land between the two small organizations, but the miners of Callpa Renace refused to leaveso they presume that the concessionaire resorted to violence more than once to remove them by force.
After the previous attacks, there were workshops where both Callpa Renace with Atico Renace committed to the cessation of violence, but they failed. In addition, both had to present their work plan and only Atico Renace did it.
On the other hand, the dealer Inti Gold had debts with its suppliersso with the intervention of Indecopi the jCreditors’ Group in order to collect the debt with the debtor’s assets, although its creation is in process.
