The president of the Front and Development of the Northern Cone (Fredicon) Felipe Domínguez, reappeared publicly to support the government of Pedro Castillo. It is worth remembering that years agoDomínguez was a staunch defender of former president and prisoner Alberto Fujimori in Arequipa, to the point of declaring himself “ultrafujimorista”.
Domínguez announced that a delegation from Fredicon will travel to Lima in the second half of March, to mobilize in favor of Castillo. Leaders from other districts of Arequipa join him. The leader maintains that in the second electoral round he did not vote for Castillo or Keiko Fujimori, however, he believes, the government requires a grace period to work, at least one year.
“We reject the obstructionism of the irresponsible opposition, of a sector of Congress, which together with the groups of economic power, obstruct the government, creating distrust and anxiety in the people and national entrepreneurs”, reads part of the statement that Fredicon raised yesterday.
“We see that Mr. (Pedro Castillo) has not been allowed to work from day one. In the second round I did not vote for him, but we are from the popular sector,” said Domínguez, who added that the questions to the different Castillo ministers come from a coup sector and some media outlets.

For the mobilization in Lima, Domínguez announced that they will also request the Castillo government resume water and drainage projects in the Northern Cone, in addition to installing medical posts with permanent staff. The leader was also in favor of renegotiating mining and gas contracts, to obtain better income for the State. According to Domínguez, former premier Guido Bellido was going down that path.
Regarding his position with Fujimori, Domínguez said that he has no relationship and recalled that in the last municipal elections, he applied with Vamos Peru for the mayor’s office of Cerro Colorado. He added that the support for Alberto Fujimori was in gratitude for the works he did in the Northern Cone.
