In the case of compensation for the red devil buses, the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor revealed that concessionaire leaders, through third parties, managed the purchase of buses that did not have operating certificates and included them in the payments made by the State.
This was supported by the Prosecutor’s Office, on the eighth day of the preliminary hearing followed by 541 defendants for the alleged crime of embezzlement through the compensation of red devil buses between the years 2010-2014, which was managed by the Traffic and Land Transportation Authority. (ATTT).
The prosecution also presented to the First Liquidator Court of Criminal Cases, in charge of the case, the investigation of a carrier who claimed to have been contacted by a leader of one of the concessionaires to propose the purchase of two buses. He then put them in his name and that once compensated he would pay him, but he never received any money.
It also presented evidence of the compensation of buses on the Veranillo Corredor Norte route, which never operated, as well as the purchase of ghost buses (they did not exist) that were compensated, but were never located in the corral to which they should be taken after completing the process. .
The hearing, which takes place at the Roberto Durán Arena, will resume tomorrow, Friday, since there will be no session this Thursday for the soccer match between the Panama and Honduras teams for the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
