The increases in the prices of the main food products continue to suffocate Nicaraguans. wages are «swallowed» due to an inflation that the Daniel Ortega regime does not even threaten to stop. Families survive as they can, since no institution regulates any cost.
This week, the box of eggs registered another increase of five córdobas in the Oriental market of Managua, and according to consulted merchants, its value is above 160 córdobas, a record figure in recent months.
«Right now the box increased five córdobas and now the box of large eggs is quoted at 165 córdobas»explained a merchant from this crowded shopping center.

Until a few days ago, a large egg box cost 160 córdobas, an unaffordable price for the majority of citizens, who have to deal with low wages. «The box that cost 140 córdobas now costs 145 and the one that was worth 150 córdobas, which is the medium egg, cost 155 córdobas»indicated other consulted merchants.
Beef goes up too
The meat merchants of this populous shopping center pointed out that the cuts of this food increased up to 10 córdobas in its price per pound.

«The pound of loin went from costing 120 to 130 córdobas, that is to say that for this week it has already increased by 10 córdobas»detailed a merchant from the meat gallery.
«The pound of chest costs 110 córdobas; the post costs 120; and the jerky at 90 córdobas»added the man, who says sales have remained “thin”.
cabbage, unattainable
Another of the perishables that have risen in price in the capital markets is cabbage, which is priced between 80 and 100 córdobas per unit, depending on size and quality.

«Cabbage is expensive, it’s going to be a month since the price has risen, what the producers say is that the rains are damaging them. The cabbage is very delicate that with a breeze it is damaged»explained a perishables merchant in the El Novillo sector, in the Oriental market.
In some cases it was possible to verify that the cabbage that is marketed is small, a situation that puts the owners of fritangas in a difficult situation, who have had to reduce the portion of cabbage in food services. «We do not know when they can drop in price. Cabbage sales are somewhat down»pointed out another vegetable vendor.
