A new attack against the Powerful mining company The attack left one worker dead and one injured. The criminal attack with firearms and explosives took place on Tuesday afternoon in Pataz, where the Executive declared a state of emergency.
According to information provided to the mining company, the criminals attacked a patrol car belonging to the Huayna SAC company, which provides security to Poderosa, on level 2820, killing one security agent and injuring another due to inhalation of toxic gases generated by the attackers.

“The situation remained active until 00:37 hours on September 25, when the security personnel and DINOES managed to regain control of the area, repelling the attack by the criminals,” the mining company said in a statement.
Poderosa regretted that attacks against the mining company continue, despite the significant police presence in Pataz, and reiterated her request to the State “to intensify efforts to combat crime and illegal mining, which has already become the main illegal economy in the country.”
Last July, armed criminals entered the mining company’s facilities with military weapons, firing at security agents who were carrying out their routine activities. Three workers were injured and one was taken hostage.
“This spiral of violence is a response to the exponential growth of illegal mining, in collusion with organized crime, an alliance that operates with absolute impunity, protected by the protection granted by REINFO (Comprehensive Registry of Mining Formalization). We call on Congress not to extend REINFO, which is about to expire, due to the risk of continuing to promote these illegal activities, with the disastrous consequences,” the statement reads.
