Annual inflation in Colombia reached 8.53% in March 2022

During the third month of 2022, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) registered an annual variation of 8.53% which means that prices in Colombia continue to rise.

(Market expects inflation in March to approach 8.45%).

The annual increase in prices as of February 2022 had been 8.01%, as announced by the Dane on Tuesday in its monthly report.

In addition, the data is 7.02 percentage points higher than that reported in the same period of the previous year, when it was 1.51%.

For its part, in its monthly variation, the CPI for March was 1.0% and in the quarter or year to date of 4.36%.

(Tariffs on 165 imported goods are lowered to 0% to alleviate inflation).

As reported by the Dane, the monthly behavior of the total CPI in March 2022 (1.00%) This was mainly explained by the monthly variation of the Food and non-alcoholic beverages and Lodging, water, electricity, gas and other fuels divisions.

The greatest variations were presented in the divisions Food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.84%) and Furniture, articles for the home and for ordinary maintenance of the home (1.83%).
